How the abandoned-vehicle drive works

  1. FoundOur marshals photograph vehicles lying unused on public roads — with date, time and GPS location — ward by ward.
  2. NoticeA notice is pasted on the vehicle. The owner must remove it from the road within the period written on the notice.
  3. Towed to the yardIf it is not removed, it is towed to the custody yard under Section 314 of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888. Storage charges are added every day.
  4. Released or disposed ofThe owner can take it back with the documents and payment of the charges. Vehicles that are not claimed are disposed of as per MCGM Circular MGC/F/6697 dated 10.06.2025.
